Circular bioeconomy of crop residues for reuse in agriculture.
Description
Integrated process for transforming leachates
from the composting of plant waste
into a biofertilizer product for use in
agriculture.
Sector
A1.6Support activities to agriculture and post-harvest crop activities
Needs/ Problem statement
The agricultural sector in Andalusia generates large amounts of crop residues and agro-food waste, which are often underutilized, leading to environmental impact, resource inefficiency, and economic losses. There is a growing need for sustainable solutions that transform these by-products into valuable resources, promoting circular economy practices and reducing the environmental footprint of agriculture.
Objective
To develop and implement sustainable, circular economy solutions that convert agricultural residues and agro-food waste into useful products such as organic fertilizers and compost, thereby enhancing resource efficiency, reducing environmental impact, and supporting the competitiveness of the agricultural sector.

Intended user
The technology is intended for farmers, agricultural cooperatives, and agribusinesses that generate significant crop residues. Access requires proximity to collection and processing facilities, as the technology is static and feedstock must be delivered to the site for conversion into compost or organic fertilizers.
