Optimization of properties and utilization of reclamation substrates based on sewage sludge and other suitable waste materials in accordance with the principles of circular economics
Description
Optimization of reclamation substrates based on sewage sludge and other waste materials in accordance with the principles of the circular economy. Improving material properties, ensuring environmental safety, and promoting nutrient recovery (especially phosphorus) for safe soil reclamation and sustainable resource use.
Sector
A1.2Growing of perennial crops
Needs/ Problem statement
Safe and stable reclamation substrates were required to prevent pollutant leaching and enable sustainable use of sewage sludge and other waste materials in land restoration.
Objective
The project aimed to optimize reclamation substrates made from sewage sludge and other waste materials to improve their physical and chemical properties, ensure environmental safety, and support nutrient recovery—particularly phosphorus—for sustainable land restoration in line with circular‑economy principles.
