Obtain and use of biochar from citrus pruning on the west coast of Huelva.
Description
Use of purnings for biochar production.
Sector
A1.2Growing of perennial crops
Needs/ Problem statement
The project is mainly focused on the Western Coast of Huelva (Ayamonte, Isla Cristina, Lepe, Cartaya, Gibraleón, Punta Umbría and Aljaraque) since this is the region where the citrus production of the province is concentrated. At present, citrus pruning is a waste with no valorization.
Objective
Use of residues and by-products from the agricultural sector of citrus production for the manufacture of biochar for application in the citrus crops themselves, as a soil activator and as a fertilizer.
