Wood Chipping Machine for mountain territories in Emilia Romagna and pyrogasification of the chips
Description
small wood chipping machine for collecting wood biomass from mountain forests and their pyrolysis to obtain energy and biochar
Sector
A2.4Support services to forestry
Needs/ Problem statement
The accumulation of low economic value woody/shrub biomass in mountain areas poses a significant threat as it increases the risk of forest fires, obstructs mobility through wooded areas, and hinders the growth of undergrowth products like mushrooms and berries.
Objective
valorization of low-value woody forestry residues in mountain areas with a small-sized prototype chipper designed for mountainous forest terrains, for easy transport and storage. The project aims to establish a closed-loop supply chain for energy valorization, where the biomass will be converted into thermal energy, electricity, and biochar.
